Hey friend, let’s talk about the cup. You know the one. The one we’re constantly pouring from for work, family, friends, goals, and everything in between. But here’s the thing: who’s filling your cup? Better yet, what are you doing to keep it from running on empty?
I had to get real with myself recently. I was giving my time and energy to things and people that left me feeling drained. And let’s be honest, nobody’s handing out awards for being a people-pleaser. I’ve never been that girl. So, I decided to set a boundary: I will not spend time on things that do not replenish my cup.
This affirmation has been my saving grace. It’s my mantra when I’m about to commit to something I know I don’t have the mental capacity for. It’s my compass when I feel tempted to scroll endlessly on social media or say “yes” out of guilt. And it’s my reminder that I matter, too.
Replenishing my cup doesn’t have to be going all out all the time. Sometimes it’s as simple as a hot cup of coffee while my baby naps, journaling before work, or a solo retail therapy run (if you ever see me driving, singing, and crying, I’m ok I just like to pretend I’m in a music video). Other times, it’s saying no without guilt or blocking off an hour to do something just for me, like bingeing my favorite show or doing my hair.
Here’s the truth: when my cup is full, I show up as my best self period, for my daughter, my dreams, and my life. So, I challenge you: take a good look at what’s depleting you, and decide today that you won’t let it anymore. Say it with me: I will not spend time on things that do not replenish my cup.
Now, go pour into yourself, friend. You deserve it. 💕
