I wish people spent less time worrying about how others pay their bills and more time focusing on actually enjoying life. Not everyone is out here trying to climb the corporate ladder or build some prestigious career. Some of us are just trying to keep the lights on, make sure the fridge is full, and have a little peace at the end of the day. And guess what? That’s okay.
There’s so much pressure to “find your purpose” or “chase your dream career,” but what if you don’t know what that is yet? What if you’re just trying to survive while figuring it out? Let’s be real—your kids don’t care where the money came from, and the grocery store doesn’t either. The bills are due, and the power company is only checking to see if the payment went through. They’re not asking if you made that money from your dream job or a side hustle.
And let’s talk about this false promise that having a certain degree automatically guarantees a certain income. Most of the people I know with master’s degrees haven’t even touched the kind of money they were told they’d be making. They invested years, took on debt, and now they’re either overworked and underpaid or working in fields completely unrelated to their degree. Meanwhile, some folks with no degree, just hustle and strategy, are out here making more than they ever imagined.
So if you’re still figuring out what career path feels right, so be it! But in the meantime, get a fucking job, pay those fucking bills, and keep pushing forward. Success isn’t a one-size-fits-all journey, and you’re not behind just because your path doesn’t look like someone else’s.
At the end of the day, no one makes fun of the kid who’s been grinding at McDonald’s since he was 16, working his way up and stacking his checks. But they do snicker about the lady who goes live every day, sitting on her ass, collecting government assistance, and staying in everyone else’s business but her own. And that’s not shade—it’s just facts friend. The world respects effort. It doesn’t matter where you start, as long as you’re doing something to move forward.
You don’t need validation from society, a fancy title, or a six-figure salary to be doing well in life. If you’re handling your responsibilities and making room for joy, you’re already winning. Keep going, stay focused, and most importantly—mind your fucking business and let others mind theirs.
