Hey friend, when was the last time you let yourself cry? Like, really let the tears fall without apologizing for them?
If you can’t remember, or if you’ve been swallowing your tears like they’re some kind of weakness—this is your gentle reminder that it’s okay to cry. More than okay, actually. It’s necessary. It’s healing.
Crying Isn’t Weakness, It’s Release
Somewhere along the way, a lot of us were taught that crying means we’re weak. That strength means swallowing our emotions and moving on like nothing happened. But that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Strength isn’t about pretending you’re not hurting. Strength is knowing when you need to let it out.
Your body literally needs to cry sometimes. Those tears aren’t just salty drops of water—they’re carrying stress hormones, toxins, and built-up emotions out of your system. Holding them in? That’s like trapping all that emotional weight inside of you, letting it settle into your muscles, your gut, your mind. Over time, that unprocessed pain turns into stress, anxiety, and even physical illness.
Ever noticed how after a good cry, you feel lighter? More clear-headed? That’s because crying isn’t just emotional—it’s biological. It’s your body’s way of helping you process, heal, and reset.
Let’s Normalize Crying (Yes, Even in Public)
We’ve all been there—eyes welling up in the middle of a conversation, at work, in the grocery store, and that immediate voice in our head says, “Hold it in! Not here!” But why? Who told us that crying in public was some sort of crime?
If you need to cry, cry. If you need to excuse yourself, do that. If you need to sit in your car and let the tears fall for a moment, go ahead. But don’t shame yourself for feeling.
A Few Things to Remember:
💧 Crying is self-care. It’s how your body releases emotional tension.
💧 You don’t need a “good enough” reason to cry. If you feel it, it’s valid. Period.
💧 Crying doesn’t mean you’re broken. It means you’re human.
💧 After crying, take care of yourself. Drink some water, take deep breaths, and rest if you can.
So the next time you feel tears coming, let them come. Your body, your heart, and your mind will thank you for it.
Sending you love and a soft space to land. 💛
Xoxo, Drea
