The Purpose in the Pieces

By

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” – Romans 8:28 (NIV)

Hey yall,

I’ve been sitting with something for a few days, and I feel like it’s time to share it because maybe you’ve felt this too.

For the longest time, I was out here praying hard, asking God:
“What’s my purpose?”

I used to think purpose had to be something big. Loud. Obvious. Like a full-blown calling with lights, camera, and a grand legacy to match. I thought I had to discover this one thing I was born to do, and until then, I was just in the waiting room preparing.

But then I became a mother.
And everything shifted.

God has been showing me something in these late nights, in these quiet moments, in the everyday mess and beauty of raising a child:

Your purpose isn’t one big thing. It’s many things. And they all matter!

Looking Back, I See the Pieces

Now that I’ve got a little more life under my belt, I can see the trail of God’s hand all over my life. Situations I didn’t understand back then, relationships that came and went, places I didn’t even want to be in… it all served a purpose.

I think about:

  • People I encouraged in a season when I was barely holding on myself
  • Rooms I walked into not knowing I was carrying peace or wisdom somebody needed
  • Friendships that only lasted a season, but left impact that still lingers
  • Jobs I took just to pay bills that actually led me to purposeful connections

Friend, purpose doesn’t always come with a title or a platform. Sometimes it’s just you showing up, being fully present, loving people well, and staying obedient to God even when it doesn’t make sense.

Purpose Is Already in Motion

The real revelation?
I was walking in my purpose before I even realized it.
And so are you.

Whether you’re raising babies, managing a business, taking care of your parents, showing up for your friends, mentoring younger people, or just trying to keep it together in your era of survival—God is using all of it.

You’re a way maker in your own right.
You might not be parting the Red Sea, but you’re making a way for your family, your community, your people. You’re paving roads of healing, love, truth, and light.

The Bible Been Told Us

That Scripture in Romans 8:28 hit different when you look back:

“All things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.”

All. Things.
Not just the perfect stuff. Not just the churchy stuff.
The breakups. The breakdowns. The new beginnings. The detours.

Every piece of your story has purpose on it.

So If You’re Still Asking, “What’s My Purpose?”

Let me tell you what I wish somebody had told me sooner:

You’re not lost.
You’re not behind.
You haven’t missed it.

You’ve already been walking in your purpose friend, in parenthood, in friendship, in service, in love, in resilience.

You are the assignment.

Final Word

I don’t know who this is for, I get nervous sharing my spiritual feels sometimes but if this landed in your inbox then it’s for you. And I pray it wraps you up in peace.

I hope this makes sense, and I hope it speaks to whoever needed to hear it.

Keep going, friend. God’s not done.
Your purpose is unfolding, one piece at a time.

Xoxo,
Drea
