I Really Need A Day Between Saturday & Sunday☕

It’s a fresh new day, and as I sip my coffee aka my daily dose of sanity (and meal suppression), I’m reminded of how powerful routines can be. This blog? It’s part of my morning ritual now, and I’m already loving the consistency it’s bringing into my life. That’s why today, I want to talk about the magic of creating a routine, even if it’s just carving out one hour a day to pour into your goals.

For my fellow 9-5 warriors and parent, I see you. Life can feel like a constant juggling act, and honestly, we don’t always have the luxury of endless hours to work on our dreams. A few months back I just kept thinking “I don’t have enough hours within my day. There should be another day between Saturday and Sunday) But here’s the thing—you don’t need endless hours. An hour a day is all it takes to start seeing progress, and trust me, it adds up.

Why a Routine Matters

Routines are like the GPS for our goals. They keep us on track, helping us navigate through the chaos of daily life. When you set aside dedicated time, no matter how small, you’re telling yourself, “This matters. I matter.” 

For me, it’s the mornings. I take advantage of the fact that Dru is a late sleeper. I like to wake up at minimum an hour before she does and lately, I open my laptop and dive into research and writing. It’s my hour to be intentional, and it’s amazing how much clarity and momentum it brings to the rest of my day.

Start Small

If the idea of finding an hour feels impossible, start smaller. Begin with 15 or 30 minutes. Use that time to journal, brainstorm, read, or take a step even a tiny one towards your goal. The key is consistency. Make it non-negotiable, like brushing your teeth or checking your email (we all do it, don’t lie! I check my email more than I see who text me).

Why This Works

  1. Momentum: Small, consistent actions compound over time. You’ll look back in a month and be amazed at how far you’ve come.
  2. Stress Relief: Knowing you’ve made progress, even just a little can reduce the guilt or frustration of feeling stuck. 
  3. Confidence Boost: Every task completed is a win. Wins build confidence, and confidence fuels more wins.

For My 9-5ers:

Set your hour before or after work. Use your lunch break, or even a quiet moment in the car before heading inside. If you work from home like me, take FULL ADVANTAGE. I don’t think I need to elaborate anymore on that. The goal isn’t to overhaul your life overnight but to integrate small, purposeful habits that align with your bigger picture.

For My Parents:

I know the kiddos have schedules of their own, and sometimes, it’s hard to find even 10 minutes to yourself. But trust me when I say that prioritizing this time even if it’s while they nap or after bedtime is an act of self-love. And when you’re at your best, it spills over into every part of your parenting. My OG’ers know I don’t play about self-love.

    This is so true! I always had the kids on a schedule just so they are well rested for school. We have our days when we off track but one thing I love about them is they don’t play when it comes to getting rest. That allows me to clean up get myself together or just have a glass of wine. Parenting isn’t for the weak. I may not be able to have a full hour to myself but that 15-20 mins be everything
